What is a TCG?

TCG is short for Trading Card Game. Basically you collect little 'cards', trade them with other members and attempt to 'master' a set. The original idea for online tcgs came from Calico.

What's with all the weird names?

Well, since this is a Gilmore Girls tcg, we thought it would add to the 'quirkyness' of it all to incoorperate some of Stars Hollow into the naming of the pages/sections. Just so you know, here is a small little breakdown of the names and where they lead you so you don't get lost.

How do I get the cards?

Well there are lots of ways to get cards. When you join, you will recieve a Starter Pack containing at least 7 cards (4 random regular cards, 2 regular cards from your collecting set and 1 special card). If you're a good reader, you'll get a few extra.

You can also earn cards by playing the games. We will randomly give out freebies for various things/events.

Donations are always welcome. We are be accepting donations for link buttons and level badges. If you dontate some, we will reward you with some cards. Head over to the Charity Center to find more information on donating.

You will also get cards for leveling up and mastering sets.

What are the levels and what do I get?

The amount of cards you have determines what level you are. It goes by card worth. Each time you go up a level, you recieve a reward. But you must fill in the form.

How do I master a set and what do I get?

Well, to master a set, you must have collected all of the cards in that set. Once you have done that, fill in the form and you will get your reward, along with a nifty little badge to display on your site.

The rewards are different for the different sets.

What do I need to play?

Well, you need a few things. First off, you need a trading post. This is a little website/webpage where you put all of your cards. You also need an email address so that you can contact people to trade with, and they can contact you. (And for us to send you pesky messages or your rewards). That's about it.

Now, in your trading post you should have

What are the different coffee cups?

Well the little different colored coffee cups are our form of currency. After collecting so many of them you can turn them in for cards.

What if I have to take a break but I don't want to leave the tcg?

You have the chance of going on hiatus. Just head over to the Post Office and contact us.

Now that that's over, how do I join?

Now that you've read what we're all about, why don't you head over to the rules and see how to join? That is if Taylor hasn't scared you out of town already. :)

How Coffee x3 Was Created

Well, my main reason for creating this tcg was for me. I had been wanting to join one for a while but I hadn't seen an English language one (at least that hadn't been on hiatus since forever and a day ago). So Coffee x3 was concieved. I toyed around with making it for a few months, but the site really came together when Crissy replied to a post I made over at Dazzle Forums. It turns out that she too had been planning a Gilmore Girls tcg, so we've combined ideas. We've been working like crazy to get this place up and running since Aug 8, 2005.

Wait, you play too, how is that fair?

I play because I really made this tcg for me, yeah I can be selfish. :) Now, we are not going to cheat and play the games since we are the ones making them. However we will reward ourselves for working on the site. Many owners do that. So taking from them, each time we update games, we will get one random card from each type, which is less than what you get playing all the games. If we update more than 3 days in a row, we get 1 random card. Each time we make new sets, we will get 2 random cards (1 from that set, which you will probably get from the updates and a regular random - alternating types). We will also be able to take the random freebies and the freebies from the updates that we post.

By doing this, it will keep us interested in the tcg and become an incentive for us to update and make cards. If you don't find this fair, email us and we can talk about it. :)

And just so you know, we use a randomizer for all the cards we get (as well as the ones that are prizes in the games.)
